    • HE Peer Mentor (current SEC HE students only)

    • What is the role of a Peer Mentor? As a Peer Mentor, you will share your knowledge with first year degree students about the opportunities, services and resources available within the College. We are looking for three types of mentors: Study Mentor to focus on study skills and organisation, a Listening Ear Mentor to support those students who need someone to speak to and a Learning Technology Mentor who will assist with all technology queries in and outside the classroom. Who can apply to be a peer mentor? Applicants need to be studying a HE degree course and progressing into their 2nd or 3rd year. How are sessions run? Mentors will arrange 1-2-1 sessions with their assigned mentees. Will I receive training? Yes. Mentors will receive full training in preparation for their new role. Liaising with wide range of employers to maintain and develop a range of placement opportunities in multiple sectors. This post contributes fully to the effectiveness of our FE programmes and represents an opportunity to provide work placements to our students.     • Student Learning Coach - 22.5-37 hours per week; 37 weeks per year

    • We are looking for passionate Student Learning Coaches to work flexibly at both our Thurrock & Southend Campuses. As a Student Learning Coach you will support our students throughout their timetabled sessions as well as meeting and setting targets and learning plans on an individual basis. There are also sessions on study and employability skills that you will deliver to these groups of students throughout the academic year. We require student focussed individuals with a minimum of Level 2 Maths and English qualifications to undertake this vital role. Experience of working with SEND students or a relevant qualification in this area is required along with a supportive, nurturing and patient disposition. We have a number of posts available from 22.5 hours (3 days) to 37 hours (4 days) per week.
